Primed seeds

Seed Priming Bioreactors. Seed priming is a new technique enabling seeds suspended in an osmotica to imbibe moisture and thus be... [Pg.336]

In general, when starting from a single seed and independent of the value of the nonzero site, sum modulo-k rules for k equal to a prime,... [Pg.56]

Hermes ploughs the seeds of gold into the prime matter, Alchemical Miscellany, London British Library Sloane 1316, folio 6r (early 17th century). With the permission of the British... [Pg.216]

In the United States, more than 700 species of plants are known to be poisonous. On occasion death occurs from eating poisonous plants, berries, seeds, or tubers. It has been estimated that 75,000 cases of plant poisoning occur annually with children being the prime victims. Adult poisoning often results from the consumption of therapeutic teas or use of toxic weed, such as hemp, as hallucinogens and mind-altering drugs. [Pg.11]

Other treatments have similar effects to those of early planting and include priming of true seed, presprouting of tubers as in potatoes and the use of transplants. Generally, there is some flexibility in the use of such treatments in annual crops but it may be limited by local agro-meteorological conditions or the need to deliver a crop to the market at a predetermined time. Of course, the limitations are even greater in perennial crops. [Pg.404]

One of the prime advantages of the HTCVD approach is the resulting crystal properties. Due to the high purity of the gases, the material comes out intrinsically semi-insulating. Also, since the source material is produced on demand, the stoichiometry can always be kept the same, unlike the case with seeded sublimation growth. This will improve the yield of the grown material. [Pg.16]

Cocoa butter NF is defined as the fat obtained from the seed of Theobroma Cacao Linne (Family Sterculiaceae) (44). Cocoa butter softens at 30°C and melts at 34°C. It contains four different forms alpha, beta, beta prime, and gamma with melting points of 22°C, 34°C to 35°C, 28°C and 18°C, respectively. The beta form is the most stable and is desired for suppositories. The biggest challenge with the polymorphism of cocoa butter is the impact of the manufacturing process on the characteristics of the suppository itself. When cocoa butter is hastily melted at a temperature greatly exceeding the minimum required temperature and then quickly chilled, the result is metastable crystalline form (a crystals), which may not even... [Pg.209]

A natural response is to ask for the number of periodic orbits for a given period n. Suppose that 2" — 1 is prime. Then, (i) we do not have to worry about sub-cycles and (ii) the seeds of the periodic orbits are given by pfc/2" — 1, where pk, k = 1,2,. ..,Nk, is prime. Thus, the number of periodic orbits of period n is exactly 7t(2" — 1), where 7t(x) is the prime number function. It counts the number of primes smaller than or equal to x. ( 1 is not counted as a prime number). This function was studied extensively in the mathematical literature. An explicit expression for 7t(x), however, is not known. A good approximation is... [Pg.44]

Boerhaave even goes as far as stating that the phenomena arising from the working of the seminal principles are the prime concern of the natural philosopher. He is in no way able to recreate the seed itself, but he can only observe the powers it works in natural bodies. Thus the seminal principles stand at the beginning of all variety in nature, which means that seeds carry in them the creation, the nature and powers of single bodies. ... [Pg.178]
