API standards provide visual analysis and relevant quality assessment of the weld sample. After having carried out the preparation and tacking, the piece is marked for identification then welded in the 5G position as previously indicated. A visual analysis of the weld is then carried out. 

To pass the qualification test in a welding process in the 6G position — which covers all the others- some mechanical tests must be performed on a sample. For this purpose prepare and tack a piece as described in chapter 1. 

The scope of this chapter is to provide correct preparation and tacking procedure for a standard joint on pipe sections with 8 diameter (203 mm). The Joint is prepared by making a bevel as indicated in the figures. 

After having carried out the preparation and tacking, fix the piece in the 6G position (axis 45° to the horizontal plane) The tack must be placed at 2, 5, 8 and 11 o clock. 

The preparation of silicone psas was first disclosed in the mid 1950s when it was observed that blends of silicone resins and polydimethylsiloxane gums (PDMS) produced a material with pressure sensitive adhesive properties (i.e., tack and adhesion under low application pressure). By 1956 a versatile process for the preparation of silicone resins suitable for use in silicone psas was described (6). Rapid progress in the preparation and application of silicone psas was observed from this point to the present. 

Similar to gelcoats except that they cure tack free and are spray applied like paint, to seal and hide a substrate. They provide a hard, tough, durable and flat finish. However they cannot be used as gelcoats and are typically interior finishes only which - at least for the standard enamel - are not suitable for water immersion. Full surface preparation and application recommendations should be obtained from the manufacturer.

The discussion on reproducibility for the three sources will take a similar tack to the discussion on sensitivity starting with a discussion of the limits imposed by the instrumentation and the ionization process on ion current stability. Secondly, we will describe the most important methodological factor affecting reproducibility, which is under some control of the analyst through the use of sample preparation and chromatography. This is ion suppression and will be discussed in some detail. Thirdly, some real-world examples of assay precision and accuracy will be provided. In all of these categories there is less data available from MALDl than from the other sources because its implementation as a quantitative tool is relatively recent. 

To obtain a quality weld, correct joint preparation and accurate tacking are necessary. Faulty tacking will cause defects in the final welding.
