Powers of inspectors

The powers of an Inspector to enable him to undertake his duties under this Act are given in Section 20 of the Act. They include power to enter, at any reasonable time, any premises which he has reason to believe it is necessary for him to enter for the purpose of carrying into effect any of the legal provisions within the field of responsibility of his enforcing authority. [Pg.27]

He may take samples and can require any person to give him information relevant to his examination or investigation, to answer questions and to sign a declaration of the truth of his answers. Part II pertains to the administration and enforcement of the Act, setting out the powers of inspectors in seizure and forfeiture of offending drugs. Offences and their respective punishments (ranging from three months to three years of imprisonment and fines from 500 to 5,000) are described in Sections 31-36. Section 37 exempts exports from the provisions of the Act as long cis the products are manufactured for consumption outside of Canada. [Pg.97]

Inspectors under the Act work either for the HSE or the Local Authority.
