Powder coating advantages

Although UV powder coatings can be applied to a variety of substrates, including metals and plastics with high melting temperatures, their primary advantage is for coating of substrates, which ared ... [Pg.168]

Powder coating is a solventless system it does not depend on the use of a solvent. It uses the performance constituents of solid TP or TS materials. It can be a homogeneous blend of the plastic with fillers and additives in the form of dry, fine particles of a compound similar to flour. Advantages of powder coating include minimum air pollution and water contamination, increased performance with coating, and consequent cost savings. It has many of the same problems as solution... [Pg.390]

In the so-called bonding-process , the metallic flakes are thermally and mechanically bonded to the surface of the resin powder, avoiding separation in the overspray and thereby giving problem-free reuse of the material. Furthermore there are optical advantages in bonded metallic powder coatings due to the very homogeneous distribution of the metallic flakes. [Pg.261]

Powder coating has advantages over liquid coatings, but it also has limits. Most of the advantages... [Pg.286]

To take advantage of this process for powder coating, a spray gun can be constructed without a high-voltage power supply. For most coating materials, the ideal material for gun construction would be PTFE since it is positioned at one extreme of the triboelectric series. However, for fluorpolymers, a gun constucted of nylon is best. Nylon is the engineering plastic that is furthest away from PTFE in the triboelectric series, so it provides the best charging of a fluoropolymer powder. The interior of the powder gun is constructed of nylon such that there... [Pg.289]

Solvent emission from paints can be reduced without lowering the molecular mass by using nonaqueous dispersions (NAD) (see Section 3.6). Acrylates have been described as binders for NADs, but apart from a low viscosity they offer few advantages over conventional coatings [2.50] and moreover must compete with high-solids paints and powder coatings [2.56]. [Pg.38]

Give four advantages of using powder coating. [Pg.241]
