Potassium hypophosphite

Hypophosphite. Potassium hypophosphite, [CAS 7782-87-8], KH2PO2, white solid, soluble, formed (1) by reaction of hypophosphorons add and potassium carbonate solution, and then evaporating. (2) by reaction of potassium hydroxide solution and phosphorus on heating (poisonous phosphine gas evolved). [Pg.1361]

Fe3(H2P02)5(0H)3]H2P02-f H20. If triferric hydroxyhexahypophosphito-dihypophosphite be warmed with a soln. of potassium hypophosphite, there is formed potassium aquopentahypophosphitoferrate, K2[Fe(H20)(H2P02)5l, and similarly for sodium aquopentahypophosphitoferrate, Na[Fe(H20)(H2P02)5]. Another series of complex ferric hydroxy- or aquohypophosphites has been prepared ... [Pg.889]

Where colour reactions are to be observed, it is recommended that the hydriodic acid be decolourized by the addition of 1-2 per cent by volume of SO per cent hypophosphorous acid or by warming with a little potassium hypophosphite. [Pg.410]

Potassium hypophosphite, KH2P02.—The hypophosphite is formed by the action of phosphorus on alcoholic potash. It resembles the corresponding sodium derivative. [Pg.181]

Hypophosohlte of potash, potaasa KH2PO2 Potassium hypophosphite. Hypophosohlte of soda NaH2P02 H20 Sodium hypophosohlte. [Pg.12]

The preparation of compounds of platinum(II) usually involves a preliminary preparation of platinmn(IV) compounds. For example, the sjmthesis of metal salts by treating a solution of tetrachloroplatinic(II) acid mth carbonates or chlorides requires the preliminary preparation of the acid by reducing hexachloroplatinic(IV) acid with a suitable reagent such as sulfm dioxide. Otherwise, a metallic hexachloroplatinate(IV) may be reduced to the corresponding tetrachloroplatinate(II) by sxilfur dioxide, potassium oxalate, potassium hydrogen sxil-fite, hydrogen sulfide, potassium hypophosphite, or copper(I) chloride. ... [Pg.247]
