Polysiloxanes, allyl terminated

In addition to the termination of living poly(dichlorophosphazene) with phos-phoranimine-terminated poly(dimethylsiloxane), another method has been presented to synthesize poly(phosphazene-siloxane) block copolymers. Omega-SLllyl polycarbonates have been hydrosilated with either tertiary silanes or ym-tetramethyldisiloxane to yield silylated polycarbonates or polycarbonate-disiloxane-polycarbonate triblock copolymers.The siloxane-containing polymers exhibit relatively lower Tg and higher thermooxidative stability compared with bisphenol A polycarbonate. Hydrosilation of allyl-terminal poly(alkyleneoxide-co-sulfone) in 1 1 or 2 1 ratio with hydride-terminal polysiloxane leads to ABC and (AB)2C type block-terpolymers, respectively. DSC studies indicate microphase separation, while TGA data point to higher thermal stability for the siloxane... 

In another approach to copolymers, linear H-terminated polysiloxanes are hydrosilated to introduce reactive groups. Examples are the addition of allylamine to give reactive intermediates that can be converted to polysiloxane-polyimides or polyamides, and the hydrosilylation of allyl glycidyl ether to produce a silicone that can be copolymerized with epoxides or acrylates (equations 29 and 30). 

The end-functionalized PEO block was prepared via an etherification reaction between an HO-terminated poly(ethylene oxide) of a defined block length and allyl bromide. The SiH-functionalized polysiloxane was prepared by anionic ring-opening polymerization (ROP) of hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane (D3) and quenching of the chain end with chlorodimethylsilane (Scheme 1) [3]. 

Copolymers of 2,6-dimethylphenol with 2-allyl-6-methyl phenol have been synthesized.
