We now know that emulsion polymerization is not just another polymer synthesis method and that the complexity of the interactions, whether chemical or physical, must he considered before any control is possiUe over the outcome of the reaction. The creation and nucleation of particles, for example, is not necessarily and simply explained by the presence or or absence of micelles, but needs the understanding of interactions of all the ingredients present. Variables such as hydrophilic and hydrophobic associations or repulsions, polarity of the monomers, chemical structure of the surfactants, have to lx taken into account. 

UHMWPE is not just a simple sequence of methylenes -(CH2)-, but it also contains small but measurable concentrations of vinyl double bonds, tertiary carbons, and methyl groups. These short and long chain branches, as well as the residues of the catalyst, are incorporated in the less ordered amorphous phase, not in the crystalline lamellae. The amounts of structural irregularities, as well as the degree of crystallinity, depend on the polymer synthesis method and on the subsequent processing conditions of the resin.

Precisely targeted synthesis Polymerization is sophisticated, thus not all reactions aim at the target . Fast, effective, consistent and neat synthesis methods and techniques are required. This will benefit the preparation of previously theoretically designed, undiscovered porous polymers. 

Again, it becomes evident that it is almost impossible to compare the results of photoconductivity measurements from different authors because of the different methods of polymer synthesis, purification, and the varying measurement techniques. 

Two types of morphology in crosslinked polymer resins are conunercially available and have been investigated a gel type and a macroporous resin. The relatively rigid macroporous resin is available as hard opaque beads with permanent pores (Van de Steene et al. 2014). By optimizing the porous polymer synthesis methods through the application of a freeze-drying technique, very efficient adsorbents for removing arsenic have been obtained (Taleb et al. 2015).
