Polymeric dyes polyurethane

The polyesters or polyurethanes were dissolved in halogenated solvents like chloroform, chlorobenzene or 1,2-dichioroethane and to the solutions were added equivalent amounts of the appropriate diarylketones and phosphorous oxychloride. The mixtures were heated to reflux for several.hours and the solvents were thereafter removed under reduced pressurs. The highly colored solids were purified by precipitation from N-methyl pyrrolidone solutions into acetone. They were filtered, washed and dried under a vacuum. The visible spectra of the polymeric dyes were measured in methanol solutions. [Pg.195]

Amino-1,2,4-thiadiazoles79 and their 3-alkoxy-, 3-alkylmercapto-, and 3-dialkylamino derivatives84 have been claimed to be useful intermediates in the manufacture of dyes,84 pharmaceuticals,84 and materials valuable in pest control.79 Mono-azo dyes derived from diazotized 5-amino-l,2,4-thiadiazoles and coupling components of the benzene series are especially suitable for dyeing polymeric materials such as acetate rayon, polyamides, polyurethanes, polyesters, and... [Pg.202]

In 1985, polymeric triphenylmethane dyes based on condensation polymers such as polyesters and polyurethanes were prepared [252] ... [Pg.769]

Sapurina et al. have reported the synthesis of PANI-coated waterborne polyurethane latexes in the presence of a polymeric stabihzer, polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). The composite particles showed a conductivity of 10 S cm i, with good colloidal and mechanical properties [73]. Recently, Huang et al. synthesized a series of PPy-coated styrene-butyl acrylate (SBA) core-shell latex particles [74], The Tg of the composite particles was shown to be determined mainly by the core material. It was reported that the conductivity of the hybrid particles could be tuned by varying the butyl acrylate content in the SBA copolymer. The composite particles showed a conductivity of 0.17 S cm Composite particles having a photochromic dye as the core and ICP as shell, and possessing properties of photoluminescence, have been studied by Jang etal. [75]. Thin PEDOT-coated PS particles (Fig. 6.14) were reported for self-assembled crystalline coUoidal arrays with a stop band in the visible regime by Han and coworkers [76]. [Pg.200]

Most formaldehyde is used to make polymeric resins. It is copolymerized into melamine formaldehyde, urea formaldehyde, and phenol formaldehyde, which are among the earliest commercial thermosetting resins. It is used in the manufacture of pentaerythritol and other polyols, raw materials for polyurethanes and alkyds disinfectants, antiseptics, fungicides, germicides, and preservatives in medical laboratories and embalming fluids and deodorizers, dyes, fertilizers, and corrosion inhibitors in the metal industry. [Pg.80]

Aniline is used as a chemical intermediate to prepare isocyanates for making polyurethanes, antioxidants, and vulcanization accelerators, as well as in the manufacture of agricultural fungicides, herbicides and insecticides and in the preparation of certain dyes. Similarly, pyrrole is used as a chemical intermediate in the preparation of electrically conducting polypyrrole by means of an electrochemical polymerization process. Pyrrole has few other industrial uses. [Pg.287]
