Polymers nanocomposites

A nanocomposite is defined as the composite of two materials, one having the dimension of nanometric level at least in one dimension. In polymer nanocomposites (PNC), the fillers are dispersed on a nanolevel. [Pg.25]

This is another important and widely used polymer. Nanocomposites have been prepared based on this rubber mostly for flame-retardancy behavior. Blends with acrylic functional polymer and maleic anhydride-grafted ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) have also been used both with nanoclays and carbon nanotubes to prepare nanocomposites [65-69]. [Pg.36]

CNTs can enhance the thermal properties of CNT-polymer nanocomposites. The reinforcing function is closely associated with the amount and alignment of CNTs in the composites. Well-dispersed and long-term stable carbon nanotubes/ polymer composites own higher modulus and better thermal property as well as better electronic conductivity (Valter et al., 2002 Biercuk et al., 2002). Both SWNT and MWNT can improve the thermal stability and thermal conductivity of polymer, the polymer-CNT composites can be used for fabricating resistant-heat materials. [Pg.212]

To put the current research in LDH/polymer nanocomposites into context, we will first give a brief review of 2D-hybrid materials composed of a guest polymer and an inorganic host structure. [Pg.122]

An additional route consists of using the reconstruction ability of some LDH materials after a moderate thermal treatment. This is a pecuharity of LDH systems called the memory effect the LDH lamellar framework is reconstructed in the presence of the polymer with concomitant intercalation. Finally, a post-synthesis hydrothermal treatment can be applied in all cases, which may improve the inter- and intralamellar organization of the LDH/polymer nanocomposites. [Pg.129]
