Phosphate -ester cross-linked polyethylene glycol)s [60] are obtained from the condensation of glycols with POCl3. Partition of Li-trifluoro-methanesulfonate-LiCF3S03 between acetone solution and the polymer gel results in the formation of the electrolyte salt complexes [60],... [Pg.104]

In the inclusion compounds of such alcoholic guests with the dipeptide (2), the one-dimensional channel was not constructed, but a zero-dimensional pocket-type cavity was formed. Therefore, we wondered whether polyethylene glycol)s (PEG)... [Pg.60]

New supramolecular assemblies based on a chitosan bearing pendant cyclodex-trins were prepared [23], In order to obtain these assemblies, adamantyl groups which can selectively be included in the cyclodextrins cavity were grafted on chitosan and several polyethylene glycol)s (PEG) with molecular weights of 3400,... [Pg.210]

Polyethylene glycol )s (PEGs) substitute for onium salts as PT catalysts occasionally. There are cases where yields vary with the catalyst, but in one reaction the stereochemical outcome is influenced nickel cyanide catalyzes double insertion of CO into alkynols (5 M NaOH, 95 °C) furnishing the acids shown in Eq. (18). When a NR4X is the PT agent, the major products have Z geometry, and if PEG-400 is present, E geometry prevails [83],... [Pg.284]

Selexol. licensed by the Norton Company, uses the dimethyl ether of polyethylene glycol. A Selexol plant can be designed to provide some selectivity for H2S. For example, the plant can be designed to provide pipeline quality gas (0.25 grains H S/IOOscf) while slipping 85% of the COi. ... [Pg.191]

Chaput, Jeminet and Juillard measured the association constants of several simple polyethylene glycols with Na", K", Cs", and Tl". Phase transfer catalytic processes and most biological processes are more likely to involve the first two cations rather than the latter two, so we will confine the discussion to these. Stability constants for the dimethyl ethers of tetra-, penta-, hexa-, and heptaethylene glycols were determined poten-tiometrically in anhydrous methanol solution and are shown in Table 7.1. In the third column of the table, the ratio of binding constants (Ks/K s) is calculated. Note that Simon and his coworkers have referred to this ratio as the selectivity constant. ... [Pg.312]

The purity of the product was checked by vapor phase chromatography on a polyethylene glycol on Teflon column at 72°, 15 p.s.i., and a flow rate of 102 ml. of helium per minute. The sample appeared to be homogeneous, but, since the amine tails badly on the column, it is not possible to detect the presence of a small amount of water (less than 3%). [Pg.30]

A chemical cross-hnking of MEEP was obtained by Shriver [606] by using polyethylene glycol (PEG) dialkoxide, which also forms polymer salt complexes. The cross-linked polymers were prepared by substituting a part (1 and 10 mole%) of the methoxyethoxyethoxy ethanol by PEG in the synthesis of MEEP. Contrary to the MEEP, the amorphous polymers obtained do not flow and are stable even at 140 °C. The maximum ionic conductivity at 30 °C, obtained after complexation with liSOjCFj, are 4.1x10" S cm for MEEP/PEG 1% complexed with 6.4 wt% salt and 3x10" S cm for MEEP/PEG 10% com-plexed with 8.9 wt% salt. These values are comparable with those obtained with the parent hnear polyphosphazenes. [Pg.207]
