Polychromatic finishes

Special forms of highly transparent iron oxides are made for use in durable metallized polychromatic finishes. These products are more brown than yellow however, when used in metallized finishes, they impart a golden color. This type of iron oxide tends to be more reactive than the opaque yellows. [Pg.458]

Metallic paint n. Paint which, on application, gives a film with a metalhc appearance. This effect is normally produced by the incorporation of fine flakes of such metals as copper, bronze or aluminum. The aluminum used may be leafing or non-leafing, the former giving a far more brilhant metallic effect. These metals can be used in tinted or colored media to give polychromatic finishes. [Pg.607]

Polychromatic finish n. (1) A multicolored paint finish. (2) A paint containing reflecting metallic flake and fine transparent pigments which appears as a variety of colors when viewed from different angles. [Pg.744]

The former type offered much higher application solids and resistance to mechanical damage (e.g. stone chip resistance), and was used exclusively in commercial transport applications. Acrylics gave superior colour, colour retention and exterior durability, particularly in the area of the up and coming metallic or polychromatic finishes. [Pg.238]
