Poly uniaxially stretched

By contrast, the ECP must have conjugated rigid-rod macromolecules. Several such polymers show high electrical conductivity (usually after doping), viz. polyacetylene (PAc), polyaniline (PANI), polypyrrole (PPy), polyparaphenylenes (PPP), or poly-3-octyl thiophene (POT). The resins are expensive, difficult to process, brittle and affected by ambient moisture, thus blending is desirable. For uniaxially stretched fibers the percolation threshold is 1.8 vol%, hence low concentration of ECP (usually 5-6 vol%) provides sufficient phase co-continuity to ascertain conductivity similar to that of copper wires (see Table 1.79). [Pg.93]

This stretching, similar to the drawing of fibres, which promotes orientation and crystallite formation, is called biaxial orientation. It gives the film added strength and gas-barrier properties. In some processes, monoaxial (uniaxial) drawing is employed, e.g., polypropylene, which is then slit into thin strips and fabricated into heavy duty sacks, carpet backing, etc. The stenter process is used to make biaxial oriented poly(vinylidene dichloride) ("ding" film), polyester, polyamide and polypropylene films. [Pg.80]

Uniaxial tensile tests of poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET)/montmorillonite(MMT) nanocomposites were preformed over a temperature range of 85°C-105°C and stretch rate of 7.5mm/s-12.5mm/s. The stress-strain curves consisted of three regions the hnear visoelasticity, the rubbery plateau and the strain hardening. The effects of temperature and stretch rate on stress-strain behavior were discussed. The results of differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurements indicated that the stretch lead the increase of the crystallinity degree of specimens. The wide angle X-ray diffraction (WAXD) measurements revealed that the more perfect crystal structures were obtained with the increase of temperature and oriented along the stretch direction. [Pg.2818]
