Poly , ring-opening

One product is poly(2-ethyl-2-oxa2oline) (PEOX). It is prepared by the ring-opening polymerization of 2-ethyl-2-oxazoline (19) with a cationic initiator (48) (eq. 6). [Pg.320]

Synthesis. The synthesis of poly(dichlotophosphazene) [25034-79-17, (N=PCl2) (4), the patent polymer to over 300 macromolecules of types (1) and (2), is carried out via controlled, ring-opening polymerization of the corresponding cycHc trimer, (N=PCl2)3 [940-71 -6]. [Pg.256]

Ring-opening polymerization of strained metallocenophanes, mainly ferroceno-phanes with Si atom at the bridge, to give high-molecular-weight poly-(metallocenes) 99PAC1471. [Pg.276]

The cationic ring opening polymerization of oxolane (THF) or of N-substituted aziridines can be initiated by oxocarbenium salts [42]. The methacrylic ester unsaturation is insensitive to cationic sites, and polyoxolanes (poly-THF) macromonomers are obtained in good yields. [Pg.729]

Ring-opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) of 1,4-cyelooctadiene was used to prepare poly(l,4-B) terminated with halo end groups.647 This was then used as a macroinitiator of ATRP with heterogeneous Cu bpy catalysts to form PS- >/ti /r-poly(l,4-B)-WoeA -PS and PMMA-Moc.T-poly(l,4-B)-Wof A-PMMA. [Pg.546]

Ring-opening polymerization of 2-methyl-2-oxazoline produces poly( V-acetyl-ethylenimine) (Scheme 2) [24-27], The resulting polymer can be regarded as a... [Pg.20]

Thus, the ring-opening polymerization of 2-methyl-2-oxazoline followed by the treatment of the resulting oxazolinium propagating end group with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane produced successfully triethoxysilyl-terminated poly-oxazoline as shown in Scheme 3 [29]. [Pg.21]

Poly(f -caprolactone) (PCL), the most representative member of this polyester family, is obtained by the ring-opening polymerization of e-caprolactone. It is a low-7 (60°C), low-Tg (—60°C) semicrystalline polyester that presents mechanical properties resembling those of low-density polyethylene (Table 2.10). [Pg.43]

The preparation of poly( -caprolactone) given below is a bulk ring-opening polymerization of -caprolactone initiated by Ti(OBu)4 in the presence of... [Pg.98]

Poly(tetramethylene oxide) polyols (see Scheme 4.4) are a special class of polyethers syndiesized via acid-catalyzed ring-opening polymerization of tetrahy-drofuran. Although less susceptible to side reactions, the synthesis of these C4 ethers is less flexible in terms of product composition and structure. Thus, because of diis syndietic route, only two-functional glycols are available and copolymers are not readily available. Molecular weights of commercial C4 glycols range up to about 3000 g/m. [Pg.223]

Poly (dimethyl siloxane) obtained by anionic ring-opening polymerization of hexamethylcyclotrisiloxane (D3) can also be end-capped with vinylbenzyl bromide or other electrophiles, such as p. (chlorodimethylsilyl)styrene80). [Pg.158]

The poly(glycolide-co-caprolactone) (PGCL) copolymer was mainly synthesized by the ringopening polymerization. A copolymer with 1 1 mole ratio was synthesized by the ring-opening polymerization in the presence of the catalyst Sn(Oct)2 by Lee and coworkers. The polymerization was under vacuum, and heated in an oil bath at 170°C for 20 h. The copolymer was then dried under vacuum at room temperature for 72 h. The schematic reaction equations are shown in Schemes 8.5 and 8.6. [Pg.228]

In an attempt to hydrolyze PSPDM completely to head-to-head poly(methacrylic acid), higher temperature, and more strongly basic conditions were employed. PSPDM was heated at 125 C for four days in 5M NaOH. Like the 0.1M NaOH experiments, the imide was hydrolyzed to the amic acid and no further. The amide of the ring opened imide (V) is extremely resistant to basic hydrolysis. [Pg.293]
