Political attitudes opinions

For simplicity within the framework of modelling the dimension of political attitudes, it will be assumed that there exist only two relevant political opinions, say 1 and 2, in the model society. These may be represented by two political parties or, on a more comprehensive level, by two competing ideologies. 

Each group tended to include persons similarly young, middle class, and fairly well educated, and in each the members were described as being alike in terms of social, political, and religious attitudes and opinions. This similarity was deemed desirable by the users because of the intimate nature of the contact that took place under the drug. On the other hand, it was also felt that some variety in the orientation of the members was desirable in order not to exhaust the common experience of the group. Indeed, the decline of one of the heterosexual groups was attributed in part to lack of variety in the membership. 

Attitudes towards the chemical industry then emerge on the surface of these foundations, and general opinions crystallize out. At times, these react very sensitively to developments within the industry and our industry s public presence, but also to events and changes in mood in the general economic and socio-political environment. 

It is a fact of risk appraisal and risk acceptance that the death of one person whose house is adjacent to the railroad may be regarded by the general public as worse than the deaths of 1,000 employees or passengers. The railroad manager, and the economist, may lament this fact and the effects that this may have on safety resource allocation. However, to the extent that the essence of free-market economics is that consumer preferences are paramount, the reality is that the public is willing to pay many times more to protect a third party than they are to protect an employee or other interested party. Moreover, these attitudes risk drive public opinion and hence the political economy in which railroads have to live. 

Quantification Method. The variable Pj can now be quantified It is well known that in competitive societies certain relative attitudes develop towards the other society. These attitudes not only reflect political opinions in the narrow sense but also include attitudes valuating their own and the other system in all cultural, economic and ideological respects.
