Poling algorithm

The first summation requires electron repulsion integrals with four virtuaJ indices. Efficient algorithms that avoid the storage of these integrals have been discussed in detail [20]. For every orbital index, p, this OV contraction must be repeated for each energy considered in the pole search it is usually the computational bottleneck. [Pg.42]

The pole placement design predicates on the feedback of all the state variables x (Fig. 9.1). Under many circumstances, this may not be true. We have to estimate unmeasureable state variables or signals that are too noisy to be measured accurately. One approach to work around this problem is to estimate the state vector with a model. The algorithm that performs this estimation is called the state observer or the state estimator. The estimated state X is then used as the feedback signal in a control system (Fig. 9.3). A full-order state observer estimates all the states even when some of them are measured. A reduced-order observer does the smart thing and skip these measurable states. [Pg.181]

In the past few years, a number of workable pole-placement algorithms have been published. However, their application to MIMO systems with incomplete state variable feedback are often unsatisfactory in that ... [Pg.102]

In developing these new algorithms, the requirements for sensors added more of them outside of the central control module for two reasons. First, some types of crash were difficult to detect within the short time frame required for deployment (such as offset pole crashes) and the solution was to provide a high-g precrash sensor within the front of the vehicle. And second, the need for side-impact detection required deployment decisions even faster that the frontal crashes (within approximately 5 ms). Both of these requirements moved accelerometers to satellite positions closer to the perimeter of the vehicle where they are more likely to pick up impacts from small objects. [Pg.277]

Unfortunately, the deadbeat and Dahlin s algorithms usually contain poles that cause severe ringing of the controller output. This may be the... [Pg.334]

After such pre-treatment, the connections of the battery poles to the power source terminals are reversed and formation proper starts. Test results for batteries that have been formed employing an algorithm that includes reverse polarization prior to formation are given in Fig. 12.23. The capacity curve is similar to that for batteries with cast grids with rough surfaces. [Pg.527]
