Plate spacing selection

Grieco, G.J. Electrostatic precipitator electrode geometry and collector plate spacing—selection considerations. Proceedings PowerGen 94 Conference, Orlando, FL, U.S.A., December 1994 Paper TP 94-58. [Pg.860]

A provisional value of 0.5 m for the plate spacing is selected based upon typical values suggested in Ref. A6 (p.21.75). Thisvalue will be tested in later calculations after complete specification of the sieve... [Pg.296]

Selection A Karbate column of 8 in. nominal diameter will be used. Four bubble cap plates and a reboiler will be furnished. Using a plate spacing of 18 in. requires a column height of 12 ft. [Pg.155]

Selection An S-in.-diam, column with 21 bubble cap plates spaced 18 in. apart. Each plate is to contain six 2-in. standard bubble caps. Feed connections will be provided on the fourth and adjacent plates. [Pg.161]

A tablet is a device for placing selectable menus or modules on a separate, peripheral plate. It is helpful for a user of CAD software to have all the modules available displayed on the screen for selection. The only drawback in such an arrangement is that it takes away a portion of the screen space and therefore less space is available for the actual CAD activities. Selection of an item from a tablet can be made with a mouse or light pen (Fig. 4). [Pg.65]

Vertical-Tube Coalescer This is the equipment finally selected to meet the design parameters listed in Table 2. The vertical-tube coalescer (VTC) unit equals the performance of a skimmer in less space or offers improved performance in the same space. The VTC tube packs provide up to five times more coalescing surface than a plate pack. The extra surface gives oil globules more area for coalescence Also, the vertical orientation of the tubes contributes to a more efficient separation. In a plate pack, the rising oil droplets must move perpendicular to the flow of influent. In a VTC pack, the oil droplets arc free to travel upward and to collect on the top surface of the tube bundles. [Pg.210]

Figure 19.16. Basic designs of electrolytic cells, (a) Basic type of two-compartment cell used when mixing of anolyte and catholyte is to be minimized the partition may be a porous diaphragm or an ion exchange membrane that allows only selected ions to pass, (b) Mercury cell for brine electrolysis. The released Na dissolves in the Hg and is withdrawn to another zone where it forms salt-free NaOH with water, (c) Monopolar electrical connections each cell is connected separately to the power supply so they are in parallel at low voltage, (d) Bipolar electrical connections 50 or more cells may be series and may require supply at several hundred volts, (e) Bipolar-connected cells for the Monsanto adiponitrile process. Spacings between electrodes and membrane are 0.8-3.2 mm. (f) New type of cell for the Monsanto adiponitrile process, without partitions the stack consists of 50-200 steel plates with 0.0-0.2 ram coating of Cd. Electrolyte velocity of l-2 m/sec sweeps out generated Oz. Figure 19.16. Comparison of Approaches. The additive processes can achieve conductor features with a large aspect ratio, although selective plating can create a negative side wall angle in the conductor that reduces the spacing between conductor lines and that is is difficult to coat with polymer dielectrics.
