Plastics, burning mechanism processibility

Extruder burn n. The local decomposition of the plastic resin inside an extruder caused by the excessive mechanical heating. Strong AB (2000) Plastics materials and processing. Prentice-Hall, Columbus, OH. [Pg.385]

Theoretical studies aimed at a better understanding of burning processes of combustible materials started only recently. This research has been directed principally towards clarifying the combustion mechanism of plastics, but it has naturally included some investigations of the conventional combustibles such as woods and textiles. [Pg.56]

Eye burns are a process that develops during a chemical or thermal exposure that is of exceeding mass, contact time, chemical reactivity, and temperature until the exhaustion of the protective mechanisms of the eye. The most plastic description of this process can be given in images that are obtained by optical coherence tomography [5]. [Pg.65]

Esters of cyclohexane polycarboxylic acids can be used as plasticizers for PVC to enable products with comparable mechanical properties to be obtained using less PVC. The use of these esters also produces formulations with increased stability to UV light, improved low temperature properties, lower viscosity, and improved processability, as well as reduced smoke on burning (15). [Pg.12]

Fly ash has been pubhshed to be viable filler for plastics [2]. It is a cheap by-product fi om coal burning process. Nevertheless, the amovmt of fly ash suitable for rotomolding must be determined, so that processability and the mechanical properties are not compromised. [Pg.1761]
