Figure 12 is a simplified flow diagram of a chamber-type unit. In this instance the feed is taken only from the cracking plant stabilizer overhead although some plants also include the absorber overhead gas in the feed. If a predominantly C3-C4 charge is polymerized the recovery section can be modified to yield a propane stream for liquefied petroleum gas sale as well as butane by the use of a de-ethanizer (if required), a depropanizer, and a debutanizer. 

The compound paclitaxel, from the bark of this plant, stabilizes microtubules, the part of the cell that maintains shape and aids in cell division. It combats certain cancers, most notably ovarian and breast cancer (see Chapter 62).

Although APC is not considered necessary to start-up and operate the plant, studies always reveal that the use of advanced eontrol has a substantial economic incentive due to improved plant stability and hence less shutdowns, maximization of production and reduction of quality give-away. Using APC as early as possible, once the plant has been started, is therefore seen as an important driver to Operational Excellence.

Operability and maintainability. The control system of the plant was designed and checked fbr plant stability with no significant oscillation or deviation for 10% stepwise changes and 5% ramp changes in reactor power. ISI of the primary major components was implemented for the structural concept based on the ISI policy(draft) established for the DFBR. It is confirmed that the major components and main piping in the primary loop can be repaired and maintained. Maintenance methods and procedures were examined using 3-dimensional CAD simulation. It was confirmed that regular maintenance and inspection works can be carried out within 60 days. 

In this section, the plant stability of the Super LWR is checked by analyzing the response to the following perturbations with the control system designed and tuned in Sect. 4.4. 

The plant dynamics of the Super LWR were understood by plant transient analyses. Although the Super LWR is a thermal spectrum reactor, the reactor power is not very sensitive to the flow rate because the water rods with large volume fraction mitigate fluctuation of the average water density. Based on the plant transient analyses and also referring to LWRs and FPPs, the plant control system of the Super LWR was designed and tuned. Finally, the adequacy of the control system was assessed by plant stability analyses. 

The reactor power is not sensitive to the flow rate because the Super FR is a fast reactor with small reactivity feedback from coolant density. The reactor power is mainly regulated by the CRs. Therefore, the responses of the reactor power do not significantly differ with the four control systems including the reference one. Since the responses of the core and main steam pressures are very fast and determined by only the turbine control valves, they are almost the same with the four control systems. The changes in the main steam temperature obtained by the plant stability analyses are summarized in Table 7.37 [31]. The advantages and the issues of each control system are discussed below.
