Plant layout planning specification

You should develop a documented procedure for the facility planning activity that will ensure the provision of adequate information on which to base plant design decisions. The procedures should provide for a separate development plan with allocation of responsibilities for the various tasks to be undertaken and should cover the layout, specification, procurement, installation, and commissioning of the new or revised plant. 

Design should follow some prearranged plan based upon space requirements, selections and specifications of process equipment, the layout of process equipment according to processing flows, plant location, plant... 

Nevertheless, each particular material from a plant species may require some modification of described methods and usual techniques. The methods are described critically, with hints as to their limitations. In general it will be possible to adapt the methods described to the specific needs of the users of this series, but nevertheless references have been made to the original papers and authors. While the editors have worked to plan in this New Series and made efforts to ensure that the aims and general layout of the contributions are within the general guidelines indicated above, we have tried not to interfere too much with the personal style of each author.
