Plant growth regulation root formation

Aryl-A2-l,3,4-oxadiazolin-5-ones stimulate root formation in beans (77MI42302) and together with 2-(2-carboxyphenyl)-5-aryl-l,3,4-oxadiazoles (77AJC2225) act as plant growth regulators. [Pg.445]

Another group of compounds, which are exemplified by 1-naphthaleneacetic acid and 1-naphthaleneacetamide, are auxin mimics and find use as plant growth regulators. They stimulate root formation in cuttings and transplants. [Pg.1158]

However, one difference between the effects of mevinolin as conpared to that of all other compounds tested has to be noted The conplete lack of lateral root formation in the presence of high concentrations of s evinolin was never observed with other chemicals. It frequently appeared that lateral root growth was even stimulated as compared to control plants. This may indicate that at least one further MVA-derivative, other than sterols, is involved not only in regulation of growth but, more basically, in... [Pg.131]

Next to the amount of P, the chemical form of this nutrient (Lambers et al. 2002 Shu et al. 2005 Shane et al. 2008) and the availability of other nutrients, especially nitrogen, potassium, and iron (Shane and Lambers 2005) affects the formation of cluster roots. It seems to be regulated by several plant hormones. Thus, application of auxin led to the production of cluster roots in white lupin at P concentrations that normally suppress cluster roots (Gilbert etal. 2000 Neumann et al. 2000). Cytokinines might also play a role, as kinetin applied to the growth medium of P-deficient white lupin inhibited the formation of cluster roots (Neumann et al. 2000). [Pg.151]
