If the column can be opened at the feed injection side, which is not always possible for technical or regulatory (GMP) reasons, the first one or two centimetres of packing can be removed. The top of the bed is then reslurried, fresh adsorbent added, and the column recompressed. Up to a column diameter of 200-300 mm this procedure might make it possible to avoid repacking of a column and ensures the further use of the packed column for some time. Table 3.16 shows some CIP-regimes for silica-based adsorbents with different functionalities. [Pg.104]

Standard components for a bioreactor comprise the vessel, the agitator and impeller, heat exchangers, seals, and valves. Other components include utilities such as clean-in-place (CIP), and steam-in-place (SIP) systems, auxiliary tanks, pH and foam control, inlet tubes,... [Pg.857]

Clean in place (CIP) A system used in clean rooms, consisting of tanks, piping, pumps, and associated controls for the distribution of w ash and rinse solutions. [Pg.1421]

There are several approaches to cleaning. The favored approach is clean-in-place (CIP), in which cleaning solutions are piped to the vessel under computer control. In cases where CIP is not suitable, clean-out-of-place (COP) is used. This approach is mostly for smaller items. COP may be carried out manually or with automated tanks. A third approach is manual cleaning, although this is prone to human error and is not generally adopted. [Pg.300]

Clean in place (CIP) is a system which involves circulating or once-through water rinses and chemical or sanitizing solutions which are discharged through plant and equipment while kept in an assembled state. The rinses and solutions are used such that all contaminated or soiled product contact surfaces are cleaned to an acceptably high and consistently reproducible state. [Pg.35]

The lyophilizers are cleaned using a validated clean-in-place (CIP) cycle using hot WFI. After the cleaning process, a validated sterilization cycle is mn. The qualification of the steam sterilization cycle was performed during the operation qualification (OQ) of the lyophilizer. [Pg.491]

All modem fillers are designed for clean-in-place (CIP) to ensure the sterility of the system. The CIP process operates from a centrally located system that is piped to the filler. A return cycle to the CIP set from the filler is included, the temperature of the return liquor being sensed at the filler outlet. Specifically designed CIP cups are attached to each filling valve to allow the CIP process to take place entirely through the filler bowl and filling valves and all associated... [Pg.177]
