Pine-like

The white pine, like most of its allies among the Coniferse, bears cones. These structures are of two kinds, viz. staminate and car-pellate. Both kinds are produced on the same tree. [Pg.47]

Atropine was isolated by Mein in 1831 (58), and since then the synthesis of both atropine and scopolamine has been achieved (59,60). A biogenetic scheme for the synthesis of atro-pine-like alkaloids in datura species starting from ornithine has been described (61). [Pg.120]

The odor is warm-fruity, caramellic-sweet with emphasis on the caramellic note in the dry state, while solutions of maltol show a pronounced fruity, jam-like odor of pineapple, strawberry-type. Depending of the solvent, sometimes more balsamic, pine-like with fruity undertones (Arctander, 1967). The measured flavor threshold in water is 20.0ppm (Brule et al, 1971) or 7.1 ppm (Keith and Powers, 1968). [Pg.250]

The pine-like Ag and Cu dendrites shown in Fig. 6.2a, b were electrodeposited inside the plateaus of the limiting diffusion current density [20]. The Ag dendrites were also formed outside the plateau of the limiting diffusion current density in the zone of a sharp increase in the current density with an increase in the overpotential (Fig. 6.2c). [Pg.208]

Also another /r-menthenic terpene, y-terpinene, was screened as a substrate to afford a mixture of characteristically smelling /rara-menthenic aldehydes with about 90% combined yields under relatively mild conditions (80 C, 80 atm) (Scheme 6.32) [119]. y-Terpinene is a naturally occurring compound. In a pure state, it is a colorless, pine-like fragrant oil, which is contained in many essential oils, especially citrus and spice. [Pg.550]

Table 20.5 shows the odorants of dried hops. The occurrence of undecatriene and -tetraene, which have a balsam-like, aromatic and pine-like odor, is remarkable. These hydrocarbons, and particularly myrcene and linalool belong to the compounds which produce the characteristic odor of hops. [Pg.896]

Fresh, warm, rich, sweet woody and pine-like. [Pg.170]

G. oil is a colorless to pale-yellow liquid with a typical, intense and diffusive leafy green odor that is reminiscent of pea-pods or green peppers with slight pine-like woody undertones. The resinoid is a semiliquid, amber-colored material that possesses the same green vegetable-like notes as the oil but with a more rich, balsamic, woody-resinous quality. [Pg.120]
