Pick count

Fabric weave. Fabric weave pattern can influence the properties such as drape-ability, tightness, etc. of a fiber product. The quantities of relevance in this regard are pick count, fabric areal weight, etc.

Pick Count—The number of filhng yarns per unit length of woven roving. 

Pick count n. The number of filling yarns per inch or per centimeter of fabric. 

The tests associated with fiber characterization basically are density (ASTM D 792, D 3800, D 1505), weight of unit length, filament diameter, thermal expansion, electrical conductivity, and the tensile strength (ASTM D 3379). In the case when a fabric is used, the pick count which is the number of tows per millimeter need to be established. In addition the weight per unit area, and the tensile strength (ASTM D 579) must also be known. 

We assign an index number to each of the polymer molecules and pick up the analysis of the problem after i polymer molecules have already been placed on an otherwise empty lattice. Our first question, then, concerns the number of ways the (i + l)th polymer molecule can be placed in the lattice. The polymer is to be positioned one repeat unit at a time, so it is an easy matter to count the number of available positions for the first segment of the (i + l)th molecule. Since the total lattice consists of N sites and ni of these are already occupied, the first segment of the (i + l)th molecule can be placed on any one of the N - ni remaining sites. 

Turbine flow meters are composed of some form of rotary device such as a helical rotor, Pelton wheel or a vane mounted in the flow stream. The fluid passing the rotor causes the rotor to turn at an angular velocity which is proportional to the flow velocity and hence the volumetric flowrate through the meter. The rotary motion of the rotor is sensed by some form of pick-up device that produces an electrical pulse output. The frequency of this signal is proportional to the flowrate and the total count of pulses is proportional to the total volume of liquid passed through the meter.
