Physical and electrical properties

Unsaturated resias based on 1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol are useful ia gel coats and ia laminating and molding resias where advantage is taken of the properties of very low water absorption and resistance to boiling water (6). Thermal stabiHty is imparted to molding resias, both thermoplastic (71,72) and thermoset (73—76), enabling retention of physical and electrical properties at elevated temperatures (77). Additionally, resistance to chemical and environmental exposure is characteristic of products made from these resias (78). [Pg.374]

Metallization. Integrated circuits require conductive layers to form electrical connections between contacts on a device, between devices on a chip, between metal layers on a chip, and between chips and higher levels of interconnections needed for packaging the chips. It is critical to the success of IC fabrication that the metallization be stable throughout the process sequence in order to maintain the correct physical and electrical properties of the circuit. It must also be possible to pattern the blanket deposition. [Pg.348]

Impurities that can negatively affect the physical and electrical properties of the metallisation layer can originate from several sources, particularly the deposition source and the gaseous environment. Impurities stemming from the source bombard the surface of the growing film and get trapped in the metal layer. [Pg.349]

Procedure for conditioning test specimens can call for the following periods in a standard laboratory atmosphere [50 2% relative humidity, 73.4 1.8°F (23 1°C) Adequate air circulation around all specimens must be provided. The reason for this test is due to the fact the temperature and moisture content of plastics affects different properties such as the physical and electrical properties. In order to get comparable test results at different times and in different laboratories a standard has been established. [Pg.332]

The second assxmiption of the model that the characteristic buildup time is chemical-physical controlled, implies that this time is dependent on the chemical, physical and electrical properties of the foulant and the membrane but not on the flow. [Pg.134]

Thus, the cured epoxy resin is a highly functional material whose final chemical, physical, and electrical properties dictate the ultimate utility of that material. [Pg.185]

Just as coal evaluation can be achieved by the determination of several noteworthy properties (Chapter 3 and 4), there are various physical and electrical properties (Table 6.1) that provide even more valuable information about the potential use for coal (van Krevelen, 1957 Evans and Allardice, 1978). Indeed, there are also those properties of organic materials that offer valuable information about environmental behavior (Lyman et al., 1990) an additional reason to study the properties of coal. [Pg.110]

It also has superior electrical properties, for example extremely high dielectric strength and very high resistivity. For this work, parylene C was used because of its excellent combination of physical and electrical properties. Table 15.1 lists its important properties. [Pg.377]

These PEI plastics show good physical and electrical properties at high temperatures and a 20,000 h service life at 230C (446F). Their thermal-oxidative stabilities are described as being less than the best polyimides, but better than the aromatic polyesters. [Pg.91]

Table 5.1. Carbon nanotubes have a high potential to improve the mechanical, physical and electrical properties of polymers, as stated by Thostenson et al. (4). They exhibit an exceptionally high aspect ratio in combination with low density, as well as high strength and stiffness (Coleman et al. (5)), which make them a potential candidate for the reinforcement of polymeric materials. Table 5.1. The resultant cured product will have a density of approximately 112 kg/m (7 Ib/ft ), with a compressive strength of 0.69 MPa (100 psi). The polystyrene microspheres have about the same physical and electrical properties as those obtained with other organic syntactic foam fillers. [Pg.156]
