Phosphates, modified barium

Silver A -tert-b xiy phosphate is used to introduce the phosphate moiety. It is synthesized from di-tert-butyl phosphate via barium di- er -butyl phosphate as modified by de Haas and van Deenen (1961). The silver salt, generated using silver sulphate, is condensed with the diacyliododeoxyglycerol (Bonsen and de Haas, 1967). Labile tert-butyl esters are then removed and the phosphatidate product crystallized as the barium salt, from which the free acid or other salts can be generated. [Pg.302]

Barium and calcium phosphates have been used to produce chemically modified electrodes, such as by intercalation of meldola blue, producing a stable and electrochemically active electrode for hydrazine [22]. [Pg.84]

Flame retardants are used to treat a product so that its resistance to burning is improved or modified. PVC is inherently non-burning character because of high chloride content. It is a self extinguishing polymer. Some compound formulations are designed so as to add non-flammable properties. This is generally accomplished by addition of non flammable plasticizers such as phosphate esters or chlorinated hydrocarbons. Antimony oxide is widely used in PVC where low temperature properties of phosphates are aimed, levels of 1-3 phr antimony oxide are generally satisfactory. Sometimes 6 phr quantities are used. For transparent applications barium metaborate may be used. [Pg.62]
