Dr Claessen (British Patent, 13,340, 1905) has shown that even better effects are obtained by the use of what he calls tetranitro-methylaniline or tetranitro-ethylaniline. These substances are really trinitro-phenyl-methyl-nitramine and trinitro-phenyl-ethyl-nitramine. The commercial name for Claessen ssubstance is tetryl.
