Phenyl arsonic acid

Aminobenzenearsonic Acid. Same as Amino-phenyl arsonic Acid... 

This compd is probably expl, yet not reported as such. Its methyl deriv is ex pi although its NOj-nitrogen content is smaller (See 3i5-Dinitro-4-methyl ami nophenyl arsonic Acid under Methyl ami no phenyl-arsonic Acid)... 

It was not until thirty-eight years later that this method of synthesis was applied to the aromatic series. Rosenmund,8 in 1921, prepared phenyl-arsonic acid (in low yield) and o-carboxyphenylarsonic acid (44% yield) from tripotassium arsenite and bromobenzene and o-bromobenzoic acid, respectively. Watson has discussed the polarographic behaviour of phenyl arsonic acid , phenyl arsenooxide , triphenylarsenooxide and diphenylarsinic acid . 

A smaller pH-independent value of m (0.30) was found for the unsubstituted phenyl-arsonic acid by application of cyclic voltammetry (CV) , and the value of an increased slightly by increasing concentration of the substrate, probably due to adsorption at the highest concentrations (> 1 mM). 

Phenylarsine oxide (PhAsO) is one of the few trivalent compounds the reduction of which has been studied in aqueous solution, and it is reduced at a potential which is almost 1V less cathodic than the reduction potential of the pentavalent PhAsO(OH)2. In the solid state PhAsO (arsenosobenzene) exists as a tetrameric oxide (structure 7), whereas in aqueous solution it exists as a monomeric dihydroxy compound [PhAs(OH)2, phenyl-arsonous acid] with a pX of about 11. ...

U.v. spectroscopy gives evidence for the protonated species PhAsOsHj in aqueous perchloric acid solutions of phenyl- and substituted phenyl-arsonic acids.
