Phenothiazines Diphenylhydantoin

Blood dyscrasias, mostly dose independent, are among the most important allergic-type adverse reactions to drugs. Aplastic anemia is a serious but rare (presumably) idiosyncratic reaction. It has been reported in association with chloramphenicol, quinacrine, phenylbutazone, mephenytoin, gold compounds, and potassium chlorate. Hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and agranulocytosis may result from an unusual, acquired sensitivity to a variety of widely used drugs including aminopyrine, phenylbutazone, phenothiazines, propylthiouracil, diphenylhydantoin, penicillins, chloramphenicol, sulfisoxazole, and tolbutamide.

Paracetamol, Propoxyphene Diphenylhydantoin Benzodiazepines, Meprobamate, Tricyclic antidepressives, Phenothiazines, Antihistamines Alcohols, Narcotics, Chloral hydrate, Hezapropymate, Fe, Li Phthalates and Adipate, and further plasticizers and vacutainer contents. Fatty acids and -esters. Cholesterol, Squalene (in saliva)... 

The metabolism and action of many other drugs also show genetically determined variations, e.g. parahydroxylation of diphenylhydantoin, insulin antagonism in serum, rigidity and hyperthermia in anaesthesia, response to antidepressive drugs, phenothiazine-induced extrapyramidal disorders, hypersensitivity and resistance to vitamin D therapy and drug reactions in hereditary porphyria.
