Phenobarbital Aminophylline

Clinically important, potentially hazardous interactions with aluminum, aminophylline, carbamazepine, carbimazole, cyclosporine, daclizumab, diuretics, etoposide, etretinate, grapefruit juice, indomethacin, isoniazid, itraconazole, ketoconazole, licorice, live vaccines, methotrexate, naproxen, oral contraceptives, pancuronium, phenobarbital, phenytoin, rifampicin, troleandomycin... 

B. Morphine is physically incompatible with solutions containing a variety of dmgs, including aminophylline, phenytoin, phenobarbital, and sodium bicarbonate. 

The mean theophylline clearance, from a single intravenous dose of aminophylline, was increased hy 34% in healthy adult subjects given phenobarbital. In another study the clearance of theophylline was increased by 17% when phenoharhital was given for 2 weeks, although this was not significant. The eftects of phenoharhital can he additive with the effects of phenytoin and smoking one patient icquiicd 4 g of theophylline daily to maintain therapeutic serum levels and to control her asthma. ... 

One retrospective study found that picmatuic infants needed a higher dose of intravenous aminophylline for neonatal apnoea when they were given phenoharhital, hut a later prospective study failed to confirm this. A study in one set of newhom twins given intravenous aminophylline found that the serum theophylline levels of the twin given phenobarbital were about half those of the twin not given phenoharhital."...
