Yohimbine (104), also from the bark of C.johimbe K Schum. and from the roots of R. serpentina (1. ) Benth. has a folk history (unsubstantiated) of use as an aphrodisiac. Its use has been confirmed experimentally as a local anesthetic, with occasional employment for rehef ia angiaa pectoris and arteriosclerosis, but is frequently contraindicated by its undesired renal effects. Yohimbine and some of its derivatives have been reported as hahuciaogenic (70). In addition, its pattern of pharmacological activities ia a variety of animal models is so broad that its general use is avoided. All ten carbon atoms of secologanin (102) as well as the entire skeleton of tryptamine (98, R = H) are clearly seen as iatact portions of this alkaloid.

The net results of our pilot study suggest that PCP-induced brain dysfunction cannot be understood solely on the basis of the pharmacological characteristics of PCP itself. There appear to be as many individuals with histories of intermittent, light use as there are chronic, moderate to heavy abusers of PCP who show significant impairment on the NP tests. 

Given KK s presentation and history, create an appropriate VTE prophylaxis plan including the pharmacologic agent, dose, route and frequency of administration, duration of therapy, monitoring parameters, and patient education. 

Evaluate patient history and physical exam findings and recommend a specific regimen including both pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic therapy. 

Treat conditions that cause bothersome maternal symptoms during pregnancy with drug therapy only after non-pharmacologic methods fail. Choose therapy with the longest history of safe use in pregnancy.
