Personal buoyancy equipment

A wide range of life-jackets and buoyancy aids is available and they should be marked with the relevant BS EN (see Appendix 3) and selection will depend on such matters as the type of water conditions, the work being undertaken and the protective clothing being worn. Rescue equipment must be checked daily. First-aid equipment and a trained first-alder must be made available. Supervisory staff must ensure that all persons wear buoyancy aids where necessary.
