Burn Injuries Are Common in Mass Disasters and Terrorist Acts. In general, in most traumatic events, approximately 25 % to 30 % of the injured will require burn care treatment. Approximately one third of those hospitalized in New York City on 9/11 had severe burn injuries the Pentagon attack resulted in 11 burn patients, again a high percentage of those injured.

September 11, 2001 Following massive terrorist attacks against New York and Washington, the FBI dedicated seven thousand of its eleven thousand Special Agents and thousands of FBI support personnel to the PENTTBOM (short for Pentagon, Twin Towers Bombing). 

The attack resulted in the loss of approximately 184 lives at the Pentagon and nearly 3000 in New York and Pennsylvania. Approximately 42 of those who died were citizens of other counties. Both World Trade Center towers were completely destroyed and the Pentagon suffered large-scale damage. A chronology of the September 11 events is as follows. 

A right to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures is declared by the Fourth Amendment, but how this right translates into substantive actual terms is not specified. Traditional constitutional and statutory legal analyses of the Fourth Amendment are heavily affected by rapidly changing societal values, fears, and security interests after the World Trade Center and Pentagon terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. 

Recent events, including the World Trade Center and Pentagon terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, have induced rapid fundamental changes from historical perspectives of constitutional rights and governmental interests. Necessary questions to ask are (1) does the technology, practice, and procedure make society safer or provide an illusion of safety (2) is the privacy intrusion proportional to the security benefit and (3) are there other demonstrable less privacy intrusive methods available that attain the same objective. 

September 11 Terrorists linked to al-Qaeda destroy the World Trade Center in New York and damage the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., killing about 2,800 people. Although no guns were used in hijacking the airliners used in the attack, the disaster will be used both to justify and oppose new gun control measures. 

Finally, the threat of a calculated explosive attack on structures still looms large after the three airplanes hit the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

In the high resolution crystal structure of the GTP form of Ras protein, a tightly bound water molecule is visible located in an optimal position for nucleophilic attack on the y-phosphate (Wittinghofer et al., 1993). The water molecule is fixed in a defined position by H-bridges with GIn61 and Hir35. As described in 5.4.4 for the a-subunits of the heterotrimeric G-proteins, GTP hydrolysis takes place by an in-line attack of the nucleophilic water molecule on the y-phosphate, for which a pentagonal, bipyramidal transition state is postulated.
