Penicillamine interaction

Xu et al. [5] described the effect of (z>)-penicillamine on the binding of several antiacetylcholine receptor monoclonal antibodies to the Torpedo acetylcholine receptor. Penicillamine is covalently incorporated into the acetylcholine receptor through SS exchange at the cysteine residues of the a-subunit, altering the antigenic structure of the receptor. This effect on the structure of the native receptor at the neuromuscular junction may be responsible for the establishment of the autoimmune response to the acetylcholine receptor in (i))-penicillamine-induced myasthenia gravis. Cysteine and penicillamine interact to form penicillamine-cysteine mixed disulfide complexes [6] ... [Pg.127]

A summary of drug interactions with penicillamine is found in Table 1. [Pg.152]

A variety of alkyl amines B, including 1-propylamine, ethylene diamine, 1,3-diaminopropane, and (7 )-l-amino-2-propanol have been used as reactants. The guest exchange kinetic results are reported in Table 13. The presence of more than one reacting [/3-CD-H-A] structure is observed with A = DOPA and penicillamine. The results have been rationalized in terms of specific interactions in the relevant inclusion complexes which determine their structure and relative stability. [Pg.222]

Gold should be used cautiously in patients receiving drugs that can also cause nephrotoxicity. Interactions between gold compounds and penicillamine may result in severe hematological and renal side effects. [Pg.437]

Interactions. Iron chelates in the gut with tetracyclines, penicillamine, methyldopa, levodopa, carbidopa, ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin and ofloxacin it also forms stable complexes with thyroxine, captopril and biphosphonates. These interactions can be clinically important. Ingestion should be separated by 3 hours. [Pg.589]
