For patent license agreements, the licensee should determine (in advance) the nature and custodian of the scientific records which are available to support the conception and reduction to practice of the patented invention. The information in these records may become important later on if the resulting patent must be litigated. 

In patent licensing agreements, several issues (beyond those discussed above) must be considered. For the most part, these issues involve the impact of federal funding and are considered below in item VII.

The brand-name company also entered a license agreement with the third generic applicant for the drug product, specifying that it could come on the market 4 years and 2 months prior to patent expiration. 

LLNL and Far West Group, Inc., signed a licensing agreement in lanuary 1997 to commercialize the CA-CDI process. CDI Technologies Partnership was created in November 1997 as an independent entity to develop and patent practical implementations of the basic technology. The technology is not yet commercially available for remediation applications. 

The coupling and protection-deprotection reactions to yield Taxol were fully licensed by BMS from FSU as part of the original licensing agreement (Scheme 7.3). This so-called metal alkoxide process was patented by Holton in 1992 [13].
