Patent Assignee Code

The Company Code is part of the field Patent Assignee (PA). You can search it in the field Patent Assignee Code (PACO). Display is viable only by using the field Patent Assignee. [Pg.213]

A speciality offered by the World Patents Index is the Company Code. Derwent provides all big patent assignees (circa 21,000 companies) with a four-number code, which remains the same even after a change of name. Derwent calls them Standard Companies. Even smaller companies are awarded a code, but they have to share it with others and is not suitable for searching. A list of codes, following the abbreviations as well as the corporate and institute names, is contained in the manual World Patents Index Patentee Codes. Patentees in pre-1970 documents are searchable exclusively by means of this code. [Pg.213]

It is color coded by company. The various columns identily patent number, international classification, assignee, inventors, issue date, filing date, U.S. classification number, abstract and 1st claim. While this is undoubtedly only a partial picture of the scope of the technology, it does summarize over 10,000 pages of examined technology.
