Packing lubricants

Supports and grids from filter, converters, trays from distillation columns, body or shells of units, some usable catalyst, active carbon, filter cloth, tower packings, lubricating oils, instrument cables, refractory waste, molecular sieves, etc. [Pg.26]

Rigid Applications. The use of the lead stabilizers is very limited in the United States but, they are stiU used in several rigid PVC appHcations in Europe and Asia. The highest use of lead stabilizers in rigid PVC is for pipe and conduit appHcations. Tribasic lead sulfate is the primary heat stabilizer with lead stearates included to provide lubrication. The lead products are typically fully formulated, usually including lubricants and pigments for pipe extmsion appHcations. These lead one-packs, when used at about 1.8—2.5 phr, provide all of the stabilizer and lubrication needed to process the polymer. A lead one-pack contains tribasic lead sulfate, dibasic lead stearate calcium stearate, polyethylene wax, paraffin wax, ester wax, and pigments. [Pg.552]

Tubes having a wide range of bore sizes are required to operate at pressures in the region of 150—300 MPa (22—44,000 psi). SmaU bore tubes, say 3—15 mm dia, are used to supply lubricant to the packing cups of secondary compressors, initiator to reactors, etc, while larger bore tubes, say 25—75 mm bore dia, are used to connect compressors to reactors and for the constmction of coolers and tubular reactors. [Pg.94]

Table 9 Hsts the quantities and doUar values of natural graphite used in the United States in 1988—1989 by product groups (7,15). Refractories and cmcibles account for about half of the known use. Natural graphite has its next greatest use (ca 15%) in lubricants and packings, including expandable graphite. Storage and Handling. The acid should never be allowed to stand in a line completely sealed between two closed valves or check valves. Excessive pressure caused by thermal expansion of the Hquid can cause leaks or pipe mptures. AH lubricants and packing materials in contact with chlorosulfuric acid must be chemically resistant to the acid. Elanged connections are recommended over screwed fittings and flange guards should be used. [Pg.87]
