Packaging, beer water

Many factors other than packaging influence the quality and type of product emerging from the brewing process. To start with, the water quality and dissolved ion content are important, both for the chemistry of the starch conversion step and for the flavor of the finished beer. Very soft waters may require addition of small amounts of calcium chloride and/or sulfuric acid, or sometimes gypsum (CaS04-2H20) to provide sufficient trace nutrients for the yeast and a sufficiently low pH for a good product. [Pg.516]

Zip-lock bags, carrier bags, microwave-safe shrinkwrap food film, Tupperware containers, food chopping boards, food packaging films, milk, bread and beer crates, water pipes, electrical cable insulation, geo-textiles, replacement body parts (e.g. heart valves, artificial arteries, hip Joints). ... [Pg.243]

Two main methods are used to pasteurise beer tunnel pasteurisation, where bottles or cans are passed through a series of water jets applying heat, and flash pasteurisation, where the beer is heated rapidly in a plate heat exchanger and holding mbe before packaging. [Pg.253]

Applications and uses roofing and automotive exterior parts, capping distilled water, dairy products, fruit juices, sports drinks, beer, wine and food, cosmetics, toiletries and pharmaceutical packaging, sterilized closures, seals, and liners. [Pg.381]

Although some liquid foods, such as beer and fruit juices, may be pasteurized after filling containers (with warm water or steam applied to raise the temperature appropriately), most are pasteurized in a vat process or a continuous-flow process and then packaged. The vat (or batch) process involves heating in a well-agitated tank for the required time... [Pg.1420]

The hoop ratio is the most important. If the product to be packaged is pressurized as soft drinks, carbonated water, and beer, the hoop ratio should be at least 10 or higher. The hoop ratio is defined as the ratio of the largest inside diameter (Di) of the blown article to the inside diameter (Z>2) of the parison or preform. [Pg.841]
