Oxygen commercial separation

Poly(propylene oxide) has been studied by using 2D 7-resolved NMR spectroscopy [71]. The scalar coupling is observed only between protons of the same monomer unit because the oxygen atom separates the monomer units in the chain. The 500-MHz proton NMR spectrum of a commercial atactic poly(propylene oxide) is shown in Fig. 6.28. [Pg.309]

The oxidation of terminal alkenes with an EWG in alcohols or ethylene glycol affords acetals of aldehydes chemoselectively. Acrylonitrile is converted into l,3-dioxolan-2-ylacetonitrile (69) in ethylene glycol and to 3,3-dimetho.xy-propionitrile (70) in methanol[28j. 3,3-Dimethoxypropionitrile (70) is produced commercially in MeOH from acrylonitrile by use of methyl nitrite (71) as a unique leoxidant of Pd(0). Methyl nitrite (71) is regenerated by the oxidation of NO with oxygen in MeOH. Methyl nitrite is a gas, which can be separated easily from water formed in the oxidation[3]. [Pg.31]

Highly pure / -hexane can be produced by adsorption on molecular sieves (qv) (see Adsorption, liquid separation) (43). The pores admit normal paraffins but exclude isoparaffins, cycloparaffins, and aromatics. The normal paraffins are recovered by changing the temperature and/or pressure of the system or by elution with a Hquid that can be easily separated from / -hexane by distillation. Other than ben2ene, commercial hexanes also may contain small concentrations of olefins (qv) and compounds of sulfur, oxygen, and chlorine. These compounds caimot be tolerated in some chemical and solvent appHcations. In such cases, the commercial hexanes must be purified by hydrogenation. [Pg.405]
