In addition to the spherands, Cram synthesized compounds in which at least half of the binding sites may be considered to be preorganized, the so-called hemispherands.6 In the parent molecule 2, the molecular cavity is composed of a rigid m-teranisyl moiety in which the oxygen binding sites are conformationally organized prior to complexation, and a flexible polyether... 

Another interesting example of MCSCF calculation is the determination of the oxygen binding site on Si (100). Batra et al performed this work for a few model clusters for oxygen chemisorbed at one, two and four-fold coordinated sites on Si3H6, Si6H12, and Si7Hg clusters./172/... 

Many biological mass transfer processes occur as a result of the combination of a substance with a membrane constituent to form a complex. For example, myoglobin has a single oxygen-binding site and is present in the muscle cytosol, and it binds to oxygen in a reversible reaction...

Human hemoglobin consists of four subunits each of them having one iron atom in the oxygen binding site. What is the distance between the iron atoms in oxy-hemo-globin As in the case of parvalbumin only the resonant crossterm f I (h) could be measured and used for this purpose. Therefore any answer concerning iron—iron distances could be found in an indirect way only...
