Tetracycline, oxy

Discovery of Kanamycin, and Establishment oflMC. Chloramphenicol, chlor- and oxy-tetracyclines, and pyridomycin (H. Umezawa, 1967) were active, in in vitro experiments, against strains of tuberculosis, but these drugs, in contrast to streptomycin, were clinically inactive. H. Umezawa... [Pg.6]

In chickens orally administered 10 mg/kg of the drug oxy-tetracycline with or without pretreatment with an extract of long pepper (equivalent to 15 mg/kg of piperine) daily for 7 days, an increase in bioavailability and decrease in the elimination rate of oxytetracycline was observed. Long pepper reduced the required loading and maintenance doses by 33.3 and 39%, respectively (Singh et al. 2005). [Pg.664]

Tetracyclines are produced by various Streptomyces strains and are extensively applied in human and veterinary medicine. They display a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity in combination with low toxicity and can be applied orally. The most commonly prescribed tetracycline drugs are tetracycline itself and oxytetracycline, an oxygenated derivative, which are directly isolated from fermentation liquors, and doxycycline whose partial synthesis from oxy-... [Pg.316]

Blanchflower et al. [43] reported the analysis of TC, oxy-TC, and chlor-TC in pig mnscle and kidney tissne by after extraction in a glycine-HCl buffer and solid-phase extraction (SPE) clean np of the extracts. Gradient LC-APCI-MS was performed with 10-90% acetonitrile in water with 0.04% heptafluorobutyric acid, 10 mmol/1 oxalic acid, and 10 gmol/1 EDTA. Detection limits were 10 gg/kg in muscle and 20 gg/kg in kidney. Ion ratio measurements, e.g., on m/z 410, 426, and 445 for tetracycline, were performed for confirmation. [Pg.390]

Synthesis of tetracyclines has been assumed to proceed from a malonamyl-CoA starter unit. There are Streptomyces mutants known to produce tetracycline analogs, for example, 2 acetyl-2-decarboxaraide-(oxy)tetracycltne (Table 1), in which the 2-carbox-... [Pg.670]
