Oxidative chloride dimer

As far as the reactions with benzyl chlorides are concerned (74), the oxidative addition of benzyl chloride and substituted benzyl chlorides to palladium atoms yields rj -benzylpalladium chloride dimers. The parent compound, bis(l,2,3-7 -benzyl)di-/i,-chloro-palladium(II), quantitatively adds four molecules of PEts by first forcing the rj -benzyl-iy -benzyl transformation, with subsequent breakage of the Pd-Cl bridges to form trans-bistPEtsKbenzyDchloroPddI). The spectral characteristics of the parent molecule are indicative of the allylic type of bonding. Similar i7 -benzyl compounds were formed from 4-methylbenzyl chloride, 2-chloro-l,l,l-trifluoro-2-phenylethane, and 3,4-dimethylbenzyl chloride. [Pg.160]

Dehydrochlonnation of tnfluoroacetohydroxamyl chloride yields tnfluoro-acetonttnle oxide that dimerizes depending on the dehydrochlonnatmg agents either to bis(trifluoromethyl)-l,l,2,5-dioxadiazine or to 3,4 bis(tn-fluoromethyl)furoxan [7] (equation 8)... [Pg.890]

Should the data concerning carbamazepine be of more general validity, estuarine areas, and even more the deltas because of their shallower water, could be important locations for the photochemical transformation of pollutants transported by river water. Also note that carbamazepine underwent oxidation and dimerization in the presence of Fe(III) + chloride, and chlorination only to a... [Pg.413]

Many oxidative addition complexes are stable because four and higher coordination inhibits decomposition via de-insertion and elimination. For benzylhalides that are pendant to a polymer main chain, compounds that exhibit T 3-bonding to the benzyl group are possible. The small molecule analog is the T 3-benzylpalladium chloride dimer. This complex is neither electronically nor coordinately saturated and is therefore not inert to ligand addition. [Pg.245]

The chloride dimer [Fe(NO)2Cl]2 also exists, and can be reduced in THF solution to Fe(NO)2 , which is most likely [Fe(NO)2(THF) ]. The brown color of the familiar, so-called, Brown Ring Test for nitrate in which the sample is treated with ferrous sulfate and sulfuric acid is due to the formation of the nitric oxide complex [Fe(H20)5N0] +. [Pg.1974]

Ethylene oxides. It waa demonstrated aa oady as 1907 by Favorekn that othyleno oxide undergoes dimerization on treatmoni with zinc chloride or concentrate sulfuric acid, yidding I,4-dk>xan (Eq. 977). Thia product was also obtained in appreciable quantities... [Pg.235]

Steroidal 7t-allyl complexes can be oxidatively cleaved to allyl alcohols with high stereoselectivity (Jones and Knox, 1975b). For example, the n-allyl palladium chloride dimer, XIV, derived from cholest-4-ene, undergoes bridge cleavage by pyridine and then oxidation by w-chloroperbenzoic acid to give XVI as the sole product. Similar reaction of the isomeric Jt-allyl... [Pg.126]
