The light and medium dark lithotypes are widely separated in their oxidation product yields (Table 1). Chromatographic separation and analysis of their Neutrals, Acids 1 and Acids 2 fractions generally resulted in the widest variation in structural type and yield for the lithotype series. The results of these analyses are depicted in Tables 2 and 3 along with Figure 6A, B and C.

Photo-oxidation of the additive-free PP film gave similar oxidation product yields and embrittlement as exposure to the 1.35 Mrad.h-1 y-cell (Table 1). 

The contribution of aldehydes to catalytic oxidation is of great interest. Aldehydes are usually considered as primary oxidation products yielding the majority of other products. 

Salicin is found in the bark of several species of fruit trees. Upon hydrolysis, it yields glucose and 2-(hydroxymethyl)phenol. The mild oxidation of salicin followed by hydrolysis of the oxidation product yields glucuronic acid and salicylic acid (2-hydroxymethyl benzoic acid).
