Oxidation nitrogen, hydrogen peroxide

Sulphilimines (the nitrogen analogues of sulphoxides) may also be oxidized using hydrogen peroxide. In this case a sulphoximine (a nitrogen analogue of a sulphone) is produced in good yields, as shown in equation (11). [Pg.973]

A number of NO-derived reactive species can initiate lipid peroxidation, including nitrogen dioxide and, most notably, ONOO , which displays unique properties as a mediator of lipid oxidation. On a molecular basis, ONOO is a more potent lipid oxidant than hydrogen peroxide and, unlike H2O2, it does not require metal catalysis. The one-electron oxidants such as metals, as well as heme proteins and peroxynitrite, are assumed to play an important role in many diseases associated with oxidative stress. Heme proteins such as horseradish peroxidase (HRP) can produce alkylperoxyl radicals through two sequential... [Pg.952]

Ammonia was oxidized with hydrogen peroxide in the presence of TS-1 first to hydroxylamine and then, further to nitrogen oxides if the hydroxylamine was not trapped. When this reaction was run in the presence of a ketone, the oxime was selectively formed (Eqn. 21.8).33 Oximes were also produced by the oxidation of primary aliphatic amines with TS-1 or TS-2 and hydrogen peroxide at ambient temperature. Linear amines such as n-propyl amine (6) gave the oxime in 73% yield at 32% conversion over the TS-1 catalyst (Eqn. 21.9).3 The isopropyl amine (7) was oxidized with somewhat higher selectivity over the larger pore TS-2 catalyst (Eqn. 21.10).34 Primary aryl amines were oxidized to the symmetrical azoxybenzenes under these conditions (Eqn. 21.11). ... [Pg.554]

Recent results in the field of catalytic oxidations with hydrogen peroxide are reviewed. Most effective catalysts fall into three categories metallorganic compounds, phase-transfer catalysts, redox zeolites. Metalloporphyrins and Pt-phosphine complexes are representative of first category. Mo and W polyoxome-talates and related systems, in association with phase transfer agents, belong to the second one. Titanium silicalite (TS-1) is the most studied redox zeolite. The oxidation of nitrogen and sulphur compounds and Fenton-like reactions are not reviewed. [Pg.21]

Today s most stable Me-N-C catalysts are the Me-PANI-C catalysts of Zelenay s group [11]. In order to obtain the nitrogen precursor, aniline is impregnated on a carbon support and then an oxidative polymerization is initiated in the presence of iron chlorine and/or cobalt nitride (both in various concentrations). As oxidant, either hydrogen peroxide or ammonium peroxydisulfate can be used [38]. In order to obtain the final catalysts, two heat treatment steps are performed, both at the same temperature and both followed by an acid leaching. Best results were obtained for catalysts prepared at 900 °C [29]. These catalysts were stable for 4 weeks of FC run under potentiostatic conditions (0.4 V) and even showed increasing currents... [Pg.915]
