Oxidation degradative studies

Arylmercuric halides may be used in place of diarylmercurials. Excellent yields, often 90-98%, were obtained in many cases. Table III lists some examples. Oxidative degradation studies of selected products showed that the aryl carbon atom originally attached to mercury was the one that became bonded to the apical carbon atom of the cluster. This reaction was much less useful in the preparation of alkyl derivatives, because of very long reaction times (1-2 weeks) giving at best moderate yields (Table III). The reaction of a-haloalkylmercurials with HCCo3(CO)9 occurred... [Pg.103]

Estane/NP binder was aged under inert atmosphere at 65, 75 and 85°C for the oxidative degradation study. These samples were analyzed by H NMR and GPC analysis. The first order kinetics was examined based on the relative amount of oxidation in Estane. Mechanical properties of this aged binder were examined and were correlated to the amount of Estane oxidation. [Pg.210]

To perform an oxidative degradation study, the drug substance is dissolved in an appropriate solvent and transferred to a reaction vessel pressurized at 50-300 psi with molecular oxygen to increase the oxygen solubility in solution. Additionally, the system is heated to accelerate degradation. The temperature depends on the free radical initiator selected (Table 4). [Pg.105]

Analysis of the degradation products obtained from pyrolysis and oxidative degradation studies suggests that terrestrial humic substances are highly aromatic (c.70% of total C). However, these techniques tend to overemphasize the importance of aromatic and phenolic units. Non-degradative techniques, such as 1H and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance, probably give more realistic aromatic carbon contents of 20—50% for soil humics,... [Pg.120]

It should be noted in this context that the old structure for (4-)-magnol-amine which incorporated four phenolic groups, at C-7, 12, 13, and 7, has lately been modified. Oxidative degradative studies have shown this alkaloid to be only a triphenol, with hydroxyls at C-7, 13, and 7. The correct molecular formula is then C37H42N2O7 rather than C36H40N2O7. ... [Pg.85]
