Ovarian cyst glycoproteins

Core chain trisaccharide related to human blood group antigenic determinants. Constit. of a sulfated polysaccharide from an ovarian cyst glycoprotein exhibiting blood group A activity. 

A glycoprotein that reacted with P. vulgaris lectin is secreted in all human saliva and ovarian-cyst fluid.739 Binding to P. vulgaris lectin was abolished by proteolysis (with trypsin or pronase), or mild, alkaline hydrolysis, but was unaffected by sequential digestion with neuraminidase (all detectable sialic acid was liberated) and /3-d-galactosidase (less than 1% of the galactose was released).739... 

Type 3 chain is the core disaccharide of glycoside glycoproteins, 16.8. The disaccharide serine (threonine) is the T antigen and its monosaccharide precursor the T antigen. ABH determinants are linked directly to the core disaccharide. They have been found, for example, in the gastric mucous membrane and in the glycoprotein of ovarian cysts. 

One of the latest volumes in the series International Review of Science covers the isolation and structures of glycoproteins from ovarian cysts, gastric mucosa, submaxilliary glands, and erythrocytes. Physical and chemical data have been compiled for glycoproteins. Other reviews have discussed the chemistry, occurrence, and metabolism of sialic acids, with reference to cell-surface neuraminidases and the metabolism of molecules containing residues of sialic acid by cells transformed with tumourigenic viruses, and the effects of neuraminidases on intermolecular and intercellular forces. ...
