Outdoor solar light irradiation

When a printed image is used outdoors it is irradiated with solar light or it is exposed to a gas in the atmosphere, for example, to ozone, nitrogen oxides, or sulfur oxides (55). In some cases, the image placed in such an environment may have temporary reduction in the color density due to decomposition of a dye. An ink composition with a good light resistance and gas resistance has been formulated (55). [Pg.196]

Weathering. Articles fabricated from FEP are unaffected by weather, and their resistance to extreme heat, cold, and uv irradiation suits them for applications in radar and other electronic components. For example, after 15 years of solar exposure in Florida, the tensile strength and light transmission (96%) of a 25-/ttm-thick film was unchanged and the film remained crystal clear (78). Elongation increased slightly for the first 5-7 years of outdoor exposure, prohahly as a result of stress relaxation. Beyond 10 years, a small decrease was observed. [Pg.5414]
