Oscillating granulator

To describe the procedure to ensure that the oscillating granulator meets installation, operational, and performance qualifications 

The validation manager and respective departmental managers are responsible for following the procedure. The quality assurance manager is responsible for SOP compliance. 

Check the product flow vibrator and the oscillating rotor. 

Evaluate the effective frequency of the product flow vibrator and the oscillating rotor at the different possible adjustments develop history and date.

Formulations are described in Table 5. Mixing and granulation were carried out in a planetary mixer. After drying (60°C in a ventilated oven), the granulates were sized with an oscillating granulator, blended with HPMC and lubricants and compressed in order to obtain tablets of hardness about 6 daN. 

Milling was carried out in an Erweka oscillating granulator equipped with 3.15 mm perforations for premilling and 0.8mm perforations for the final milling. 

Screen the wet mass through a 16-mm-aperture mesh (hammer mill) or a 4-mm-aperture screen (oscillating granulator) and spread evenly onto trays. 

Next, lubricant and oscillated granulation are blended for several min. The elapsed mixing time is of interest because of its impact on drug distribution and the effect of the lubricant on dissolution. During compression, 1000 randomly selected cores are accumulated for use by quality control. 

Parrott evaluated compaction of several pharmaceutical powders into compact sheets that were sized by an oscillating granulator into granules. He studied flake thickness, bulk and tap densities, angle of repose, and flow rate after sizing. His work demonstrated that one could improve most granule densities but not necessarily improve granule flow properties. ...

The impeller does not touch the screen hence, chances of screen breakage and metal contamination are greatly reduced compared with an oscillating granulator.
