Orientation opposite

Electric motors are not designed to absorb side loads, such as those induced by V-belt drives. In applications where V-belts or other radial loads are placed on the motor, the primary radial transducer (X-axis) should be oriented opposite the direction of induced load and the secondary radial (Y-axis) point should be positioned at 90° in the direction of rotation. If, for safety reasons, the primary transducer cannot be positioned opposite the induced load, the two radial transducers should be placed at 45° on either side of the load plane created by the side load. [Pg.723]

This argument is only molecular orbital parlance for the idea that the best acceptor CX prefers to be oriented opposite to the best donor (CH rather than CY). It cannot, however, explain why the gauche conformation is slightly favored in... [Pg.221]

However, when unpaired electrons are immersed in an external magnetic field, the two states are no longer degenerate. An electron oriented opposite to the field (s = - j in Figure 2.1) has lower energy (and greater stability) than an electron oriented with the field (s = +j). It is the interconversion of these two spin states that is centrally important to the technique known as electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (Chapter 11). But for now, we return to the nucleus. [Pg.7]

For most cases, the internal field is much higher than the external magnetic fields. Metallic iron for example exhibits a magnetic hyperfine field (-33 T at 300 K) that is oriented opposite to the magnetization of the sample. The internal hyperfine field contains particularly valuable information about the electronic configuration of the iron atom and is determined by four contributions ... [Pg.2823]

Is it reasonable that free-radical addition of hydrogen bromide should occur with orientation opposite to that of ionic addition Let us compare the two kinds of addition to propylene. [Pg.204]

A proposal for spin state teleportation was given in Ref. [Duan 2000 (d)]. Three atomic samples are needed as shown in Fig. 3 (a). Adjacent samples are oriented oppositely along the rc-axis so that both collective measurements on cells 1 and 2 and on cells 1 and 3 will be regular entangling interactions as... [Pg.370]

D/po/e-D/po/e Bonding. Two dipoles can interact by orienting oppositely charged ends toward one another. The energy of this interaction is given by... [Pg.6]

The angular triquinane ( )-6-silphiperfolcne is prepared by a related tandem radical cyclization sequence92,93. The precursor (4i /S)-3-(3-butenyl)-4-[( )-3-bromo-2-methyl-2-butenyl]-4-mcthyl-2-cyclopentenone is rapidly assembled (three steps) from 3-ethoxy-2-cy-clopentenone in 45 % overall yield. Radical cyclization of the precursor provided a 3 1 mixture of isomers in 66% yield. In the major stereoisomer, the methyl group is orientated / , opposite to that required in the target product. [Pg.81]

The reaction of 1,2,4-triazines with ketene derivatives, such as 0,0-acetals, 0,A-acetals, N,N-aminals and A V-aminals has been studied intensively. In all cases pyridines are isolated, as the reaction follows the usual cycloaddition route (see p 648 and Houben-Weyl, Vol. E 7 b, p 471 ff). Again it is found that the orientation is dominated by secondary orbital interactions, leading either to 4-substituted or 3-substituted pyridines. The keten Af/V-aminals give predominantly the orientation opposite to the other ketene derivatives.407,408 The effect of the solvent on these reactions has also been studied.408... [Pg.653]

Dichlorobenzene has a center of symmetry. Each of its individual bond moments is balanced by an identical bond dipole oriented opposite to it. p-Dichlorobenzene has no dipole moment. o-Dichlorobenzene has the largest dipole moment. [Pg.1513]

As the atomic density at the surface decreases, it becomes rougher on the atomic scale. The valence electrons spill out into the vacuum as before, but they smooth out the roughness in the positive charge distribution. The result is an electrostatic dipole oriented opposite to the spill-out dipole. As a consequence, the net dipole is reduced relative to its value at the higher-atomic-density, smoother surface, yielding a lower work function. [Pg.367]

The increase in magnetic held leads to domain wall displacements until all the domains with orientations opposite to the held have been substituted by domains with directions parallel to H. However, there might be domains with orientation neither opposite nor parallel also, the applied held can have an orientation which does not coincide with an easy direction. In the general case, to attain the saturation state (in which the sample becomes a single domain oriented along the held direction). [Pg.150]

Publication of the crystal structure of the Hdiothis viresence EcR (HvEcR) LBD heterodimerized with LBD of H. viresence ultraspiracle protein (HvUSP) with and without ponasterone A (phytoecdysteroid) or a BAH ecdysone agonist provided a more realistic conformation of the HvEcR LBD and the ligands in the LBD [21]. The most surprising result was that ponasterone A co-crystallized in the HvEcR LBD in an orientation opposite to that predicted by the CoMEA, 4D-QSAR and... [Pg.779]
