In contrast to soft carbanions (see Section 1.5.6.1.) and enol derivatives of monocarbonyl compounds or their aza-analogs (see Section 1.5.6.2.), organometallic compounds generally attack the metal of 7t-allylpalladium complexes1-33. Since subsequent C —C bond formation occurs by reductive elimination in these cases retention of configuration is observed in going from the re-allyl complex to the olefinic product. [Pg.260]

The basic function of the mass spectrometer is to measure the mass-to-charge ratios of analyte ions, and the various designs of mass spectrometers have been described in detail in the literature. The HPLC-MS system has four main components consisting of a sample inlet, an ion source, a mass analyzer, and finally an ion detector. The sample introduction system vaporizes the HPLC column effluent. The ion source produces ions from the neutral analyte molecules in the vapor phase. Several designs of ion sources have been used over the past years including electrospray ionization (ESI), atmospheric pressure chemical ionization (APCI), thermospray ionization (TSP), continuous flow fast atom bombardment (FAB), and atmospheric pressure photoionization (APPI). The inductively coupled plasma (ICP) is a hard ionization source and is used specifically for the detection of metals and metals in adducts or in organometallic compounds. Generally, ICP-MS is used for elemental speciation analysis with HPLC, which has been described elsewhere in... [Pg.240]

All nucleophilic substitutions show that in pyridine and its derivatives as free bases the 2- and 4-positions are more reactive than the 3-position. Organometallic compounds generally effect 2-substitution (pp. 200, 220) and the Tschitschibabin amination and hydroxy la tion reactions also occur mainly at C(2) (pp. 206, 234). However, these reactions cannot be taken to imply superior electrophilic power in C(2) as compared with C(4), for the issue is confused in each case by mechanistic problems as well as the precise nature of the reagent, that of the initial step is uncertain, and subsequent stabilization of one transition state rather than another by the formation of an addition compound may be occurring. As evidence about the intrinsic electrophilic properties of individual nuclear positions these reactions are valueless. [Pg.271]

The most general synthetic route to ketones uses the reaction of carboxylic acids (or their derivatives) or nitriles with organometallic compounds (M.J. Jorgenson, 1970). Lithium car-boxylates react with organolithium compounds to give stable gem-diolates, which are decom-... [Pg.45]

This index contains over 40,000 individual entries to the 6200 text pages of Volumes 1-7. The index mainly covers general classes of heterocyclic compound and specific heterocyclic compounds, but also included are natural products, other organic and organometallic compounds where their synthesis or use involves heterocyclic compounds, types of reaction, named reactions, spectroscopic techniques and topics involving heterocyclic compounds. [Pg.507]

Low surface energy substrates, such as polyethylene or polypropylene, are generally difficult to bond with adhesives. However, cyanoacrylate-based adhesives can be effectively utilized to bond polyolefins with the use of the proper primer/activa-tor on the surface. Primer materials include tertiary aliphatic and aromatic amines, trialkyl ammonium carboxylate salts, tetraalkyl ammonium salts, phosphines, and organometallic compounds, which are initiators for alkyl cyanoacrylate polymerization [33-36]. The primer is applied as a dilute solution to the polyolefin surface, solvent is allowed to evaporate, and the specimens are assembled with a small amount of the adhesive. With the use of primers, adhesive strength can be so strong that substrate failure occurs during the course of the shear tests, as shown in Fig. 11. [Pg.862]

Organometallic compounds of Ga, In and Tl have been less studied than their Al analogues. The trialkyls do not dimerize and there is a general tendency to diminishing thermal stability with increasing atomic weight of, M. There is also... [Pg.262]

For 1,2,3-triazole, the Ti (N ), i-ti (N, N ), and Ti fC) carbene coordination modes prevail in organometallic compounds. Benzotriazole has the same general pattern but often operates as a composite unit of benzotriazole and benzotriazolate linked by the hydrogen bond. In some organoosmium compounds, the i-ti (N, ) mode is realized, where the C -center refers to the annulated benzene ring. In some variations, together with the i-ti (N, N ) mode, the Ti fN" ) monodentate coordination occurs. The I-ti (N, N ) mode can also be traced. [Pg.167]

The catalysts formed by the support of organometallic compounds of transition elements are also of great interest for nonpolymerization reactions. Generally speaking, these catalysts can be used in three various states (a) in the initial state, (b) after reduction, and (c) after oxidation... [Pg.191]
