Organic compounds recognizing types

In the Course Challenge at the end of this book, you will practise recognizing organic compounds. Prepare a list of tips to help you recognize each type of organic compound you have encountered. [Pg.39]

In this chapter, you have learned how to recognize many different types of organic compounds. In the first section, you learned how to use polar bonds and the shape of a molecule to determine its molecular polarity. [Pg.48]

This is a preliminary approach to the use of a new generation of solid-state sensors based on the capacity of the sensor element to catalyze the photodegradation of various kinds of organic compounds and to recognize their structure on the basis of the type of process catalyzed. The electron holes present in the Ti02 structure are able to promote the oxidative process of substances present in the environment, in particular the ones easily adsorbed on it. Titanium dioxide is a well-known photocatalyst [5-13]. Less famous are its characteristics as sensor material [14-18] of the ability of the organic molecules to be completely degraded, that is mineralized. [Pg.183]

Isomerism types of isomerism in organic compounds, and we will cover them in detail in Chapter 5 (Stereochemistry). For now, we need to recognize the two large classes of isomers constitutional isomers and stereoisomers. [Pg.60]

In future chapters, we will study many different types of organic compounds. The vari-Hydrocarbons ous kinds of compounds are briefly described here so that you can recognize them as you... [Pg.72]

After reading this section, you too will know how to recognize and describe alkanes, ethers, carboxylic acids, aldehydes, esters, arenes, amines, and other types of organic compounds. [Pg.658]
